FEARS AND LIMITATIONS THAT KEEP US FROM SHARING THE GOSPEL

I asked several men recently the question, “What fears and limitations keep you from being intentional about sharing the Gospel to those around you?”
These are the four most common answers I received ….

1. Selfishness—-being caught up in our own thing and not really wanting our comfort zone disrupted.

2. Poor Self Image—-always thinking someone else is more qualified than us to do it.

3. Fear—-you don’t want to be classed as a “Bible thumper”. Fear of expectations placed on us that we think we can’t live up to.

4. Judgment—-assuming the other person won’t receive it anyway.

What are some other fears and limitations that keep us from being intentional about sharing the Gospel to those around us?

  1. I think that sums it up pretty well. I also think the Spirit will and should guide us, or we could end up doing more harm than good at times. If we say to God, “I will follow your lead,” I don’t see how we could fail.

  2. I believe selfishness and cold-love are primary drivers behind why people do not share the true gospel anymore.

Paul wrote that, knowing the terror of the Lord (2 Cor. 5:11), he was compelled by the love of Christ (2 Cor. 5:14). Today, Christians neither know the terror of the Lord, nor are compelled by the love of Christ to do His will and share His gospel. And I believe Jesus told us why: Jesus said that because of sin, the love of many would grow cold (Matthew 24:12). The cost of sin in the lives of Christians is very dear, and we’re seeing that cost now.
