5/18/16 Praise Report

The evangelization of the world depends first of all upon a revival of prayer. Deeper than the need for men – aye, deep down at the bottom of our spiritless life, is the need for the forgotten secret of prevailing, world-wide prayer. – Andrew Murray

These are just a few of the headlines that have been in the news recently concerning prison violence. During these times the prison becomes locked down and classes and services are canceled. It has been frustrating to see this unfold in front of my eyes and I have been praying and talking to the men in the church encouraging them to find ways to engage the rest of the population. Last Friday night, seventeen men from the church joined together and stepped out in the yard in the center of the housing compound and held hands and prayed. Many looked, some mocked but nobody interrupted these men as they prayed. On Saturday night these seventeen men were joined by 20 more as they gathered in the yard for prayer again. Once again many looked on, some yelled out at them, but no knifes were drawn as these men prayed. Sunday night came and once again these men gathered on the yard, but this time there was a total of 77 men joined together, holding hands and crying out to God. All of this begun because of a few brave Christians that were willing to engage their culture for God!

Below are the words from one of these Christians, that have been posted all over the prison encouraging others to join in these prayer times.

I was walking to prayer call and on my way there, I heard a young brother say, “It doesn’t make sense to attend prayer call when they’re going to keep on trying to kill one another.” That is one of the biggest lies I have ever heard. He believes there is no hope, because of what he sees every day. I have learned in life to never place my eyes on what is seen, because it is only temporary. Prayer can change any situation you may face in your life. Therefore, we need to stop looking at our circumstances and what we see.

I encourage you today that prayer is the key and faith unlocks the door. Please know the key of prayer can unlock any door, it’s a master key. Violence is not the answer, but prayer is! If we continue to do the same things that got us here, we are going to continue to get the same results: it’s called insanity. Wake-up! It’s time to break the cycle of defeat. Let’s come together on one accord and watch God move. Let’s stop being a part of the problem and become a part of the solution. I WILL SEE YOU AT PRAYER CALL! Let’s make plans to go home!
